Fun with Aunt Katie

Our latest adventures with the grandkids.

Katie got everybody fixed up as soldiers in WW2. After firing practice and drinking plastic-flavored water from the canteen,

they constructed an elaborate obstacle course.
Katie is such a great aunt!!!

Family Gathering

We had a great family gathering for Christmas while Alicia and Brian were here.
We treated them to some great Texas winter weather (we ate fajitas
outside as a picnic in the glow of the Christmas lights), toured 2 1/2 million lights
on a hayride at the Santaland exhibit, made a clay mouse nativity, and
had a great wedding reception potluck dinner.  We all enjoyed slides and
video clips of the wedding.

Things got a little crazy at times, but we enjoyed getting all 6 grandkids
together for the first time.

The most beautiful Christmas program ever (with the exception of the
Hallelujah Chorus) "The Word Became Flesh." It was a family affair -
Stacie and I are in the orchestra, Katie and others in handbells,
Lori, Jonathan and Jenny as the Holy Family,
Timothy and David with filming, and Jim helped serve snacks.

Merry Christmas!

Worldfest !!!

Whether it's petting a camel, or playing "Joy to the World" on an unusual bamboo instrument,
Worldfest is guaranteed to be lots of fun!  It's put on jointly by Texas A&M International students
and our communities.

The "greenest" craft was this belt made from aluminum pull tabs.  Katie and I tried on
authentic Chinese clothing and had our names done in Chinese calligraphy.

In the Japanese booth, we folded origami cranes.  At the Indonesian
booth, (and others) we sampled yummy food.

We all loved these incredibly athletic folk dancers from Ukraine.
Worldfest is truly one of my favorite festivals.

Film Festival

We had a great and inspiring time at the San Antonio Independent
Christian Film Festival.  Stacie's commercial for Hope Pregnancy Center
was a semi-finalist.  And the movie that she (and Timothy briefly)
starred in was a finalist in the film short division. And
everyone goes home inspired to continue working
on their latest script.

Ed Spencer was an Olympic Athlete...

who rescued 17 people from a shipwreck in Lake Michigan.

It cost him his health, but he kept wondering, "Have I done my best?"

His story of sacrifice inspired Ensign Young to write the hymn,
"Have I done my best for Jesus, since He has done so much for me?"
